Windows CE
Microsoft® Windows® CE is an open, scalable, 32-bit operating system (OS) that integrates reliable, real time capabilities with advanced Windows technologies. Windows CE allows you to build a wide range of innovative, small footprint devices. A typical Windows CE-based device is designed for a specific use, often runs disconnected from other computers, and requires a small OS that has a deterministic response to interrupts. Examples include enterprise tools, such as industrial controllers, communications hubs, and point-of-sale terminals, and consumer products, such as cameras, Internet appliances, and interactive televisions.
The Windows CE BSP is available for :
- TRITON Development Kit III (supports Marvell PXA270)
- TRITON Development Kit IV (supports Marvell PXA320)
- TRITON Development Kit V (supports Freescale i.MX25, i.MX27, i.MX37)
The software is delivered on a CD-ROM and can easily be integrated into the Microsoft Platform Builder. This allows software designers to start developing their own applications right away.
The download and debugging features in this comprehensive package yield a very high performance: via the adapted boot loader it is possible to start Windows CE over an Ethernet download to the target using the on-board Ethernet chip. This means that no additional network card is necessary.
