Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 - Developer Workshop


AltenPTS will organize together with Logic Technology, a 3-day introductory Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 Workshop. The goal of this workshop is to introduce Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 to Software Developers/System Engineers. After attending this workshop you will understand the Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 architecture, you will know how to create and debug an OS Design, how to develop applications for Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 and how to deploy and test your solution on target hardware. Logic Technology’s ARM based Karo Development Kit is used as target during this workshop.

Format: Classroom delivery for up to 20 students. The workshop contains a 50-50 mix of theory and lab exercises.

Instructor: Maarten Struys

Maarten Struys works as Windows Embedded and Windows Phone Evangelist for Alten-PTS in The Netherlands. Maarten is a well-known speaker at international conferences like Tech·Ed, MEDC and Mobile Connections. He created a large number of Windows Mobile How-Do-I videos for MSDN and he created the Windows Mobile Ramp-Up learning track. Maarten has over ten years of experience with Windows CE, Windows Mobile and Windows Phone. His main focus is teaching how to create efficient, great performing and battery friendly applications for Windows Phone. Maarten's website, www.dotnetfordevices.com, is loaded with information about using .NET in the embedded world.

Student Material: Workbook containing exercises + slide hand-outs

Hardware:

  • Development Station (e.g. laptop) with Ethernet to connect to target (through hub or crossover cable, depending on target hardware package contents).
  • Logic Technology (Ka-ro Triton) Development kit 
  • Target Display t.b.d (either 7’’ TFT LCD + Touch or external VGA [on Series IV devkit]).
The purpose of this workshop is to get familiar with the Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 operating system, to create an OS design that meets your requirements, to develop applications for your specific OS design and to test, debug / run the entire solution on target hardware.
