AriumNew features provide powerful tools for BIOS/UEFI and Embedded Linux Developers

Intel Developer’s Forum, San Francisco, California, September 21, 2009… Arium, an industry leader in hardware-assisted development tools for almost three decades, today announced the release of SourcePoint™ 7.7.1, the latest version of the company’s flagship debugger. This release offers substantial improvements for software based on Intel® architecture and firmware development assisting engineers to bring designs to market faster and with higher quality.
“This software release breaks new ground for Intel developers, with new features that provide powerful tools for BIOS/UEFI and embedded Linux developers. As Linux continues to be adopted on many embedded designs, especially mobile and MID-based applications, developers can now enjoy non-evasive hardware-assisted debug in all phases of Linux development.” said Larry Traylor, Arium’s CEO, “SourcePoint 7.7.1 offers a seamless debug environment and a quicker time-to-market for engineers currently working on Linux OS-based designs in North. America and EMEA, and also in emerging markets such as China, where Linux is the operating system of choice.”
New SourcePoint 7.7.1 Features and Benefits include:
Code Trace -- engineers can now trace code execution using various hardware resources. Trace can be captured and displayed in SourcePoint in excess of 1 GB of captured instructions. Executed instructions can be viewed in either assembly, C/C++, or both.
Flash Programming -- SPI and CFI devices can be programmed through SourcePoint eliminating the need for an external programming device.
Linux OS-Aware -- SourcePoint for Intel is now Linux OS-aware. Developers can debug the kernel, loadable kernel modules, and applications including threads. This seamless debug environment supports popular Linux builds including Moblin, MontaVista Linux, Wind River Linux, and all 2.6 versions from Kernel.org.
SourcePoint 7.7.1 is available with the purchase of an Arium ECM-XDP3 emulator and to all ECM-XDP/XDP3 customers.
