Insyde® Software Continues to Drive Fast Boot Initiative with Support for the Microsoft® Windows 7 Operating System

Insyde® Software, a leading provider of UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) based firmware, BIOS, and engineering services, today announced that InsydeH2O™ UEFI firmware supports the Microsoft® Windows 7 operating system and adds substantial improvement in the area of quick-booting technology.

Microsoft Windows 7 includes a number of new features, such as advances in touch and handwriting recognition, support for virtual hard disks, improved performance on multi-core processors, and improved boot performance.

Insyde Software provides OEMs and ODMs with an optimized firmware solution for Microsoft Windows 7, which includes Insyde Software's industry-leading boot time performance on notebook and netbook computers. Working in collaboration with Microsoft, Insyde has achieved as much as a 25% reduction in boot time. Future work in this area will result in next-generation mobile PCs with boot times that are even quicker.

"We are pleased to be closely aligned with Microsoft and fully ready for their latest generation of Windows Operating System," said Aven Chuang, Senior Vice President and head of Insyde's Personal Computer Group. "When OEMs and ODMs convert to a UEFI firmware solution, InsydeH2O is the most widely chosen, due in part to our advanced fast-boot technology," added Chuang.
