2/21/2010 - During the EW show Datalight will host 2 presentations in Logic Technology's booth (hall 11, booth 125).
Strategies to Increase Flash Memory Endurance
With the need for storage rapidly increasing and the cost of flash memory going down, more and more embedded systems are including flash memory in ever larger densities. The flip coin of this development in flash technology is that the number of erase cycles decreases as flash density increases, meaning the flash will wear out sooner. This makes an adequate method for wear leveling now more important than ever.
During this presentation we’ll introduce the concept of wear leveling and highlight some of the wear leveling methods ranging from a simple FIFO approach to static wear leveling.
Selecting a Modern File System for Your Embedded Application
Over the last 25 years much has changed in how data is stored on embedded devices. Due to increasing complexity of applications, more storage is being built into our devices. Not only are the number of files and the average size of a file increasing, the value and complexity of the data also continues to increase. Fortunately, the cost of more large amounts of storage continues to decrease. Unfortunately, many OEM’s continue to trust the integrity of their applications and their customer’s data to a file system based on 25 year old technology.
During this presentation we’ll highlight several considerations to made when selecting a file system to meet today’s requirements. We’ll address allocation, reliability and methods to incorporate OEM custom metadata.
Rob Heijmans, Sales Manager EMEA at Datalight will be hosting both sessions. Interested in watching Rob and Mayur explaining how you can create
a perfect balance between performance and reliability?

This year at Embedded World, Datalight will also be showing a side-by-side comparison demo with two identical BeagleBoards running Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0. The demo shows the dramatic difference between CE running the default flash file system and CE running the Datalight flash file system.
