Fans of the BeagleBoard since its introduction in late 2008, we love its winning combination of low-cost, small size and easy availability. It has also proven to be the ideal platform to demonstrate the remarkable performance and reliability benefits of our new Reliance Nitro file system.
This year at Embedded World, Datalight will be showing a side-by-side comparison demo with two identical BeagleBoards running Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0. The demo shows the dramatic difference between CE running the default flash file system and CE running the Datalight flash file system.
The demo application is a video playback loop which records the video’s position roughly every second, so that the video can be restarted in the same location when power is cut. The Datalight-enabled system is able to do just that, while the system using the default drivers generates an error message and has to start over, highlighting the added reliability of Datalight software. In addition to the improved reliability, it is interesting to note the difference in system latency as the Datalight system’s video remains smooth and constant, while the default system has trouble multi-tasking, shown by irregular file updates and a video image that stops and starts.
